Like, one minute everyone’s wearin’ big ol’ earrings, and the next it’s all about tiny little things you can barely see. Go figure!
- Big Earrings, Bold Statements: I seen some gals wearin’ earrings so big, they look like they could knock a buzzard off a fence post! They call ’em “statement earrings,” I guess ’cause they make a statement, alright? “Look at me!” that’s what they sayin’. And some of ’em are silver, real bold and shiny. Not my cup of tea, but some folks like it.
- Shiny and Simple: Then there’s the other side of the coin. Little bitty things, they call ’em “minimalist.” Just a little sparkle here, a little glint there. Nothin’ too flashy, just enough to catch the light. I reckon that’s for the folks who don’t wanna shout about their jewelry.
And the colors! My goodness, the colors they got now. Not just plain ol’ gold and silver no more. They got all sorts of colors, like rainbows exploded on a necklace. And they usin’ all kinds of stuff to make it, too. Not just metal, but rocks and wood and even plastic, I reckon. They call it “unique materials,” but I just call it stuff.
This “fashion week” thing, they talk about it on the TV. That’s where they show off all the newfangled jewelry. I seen pictures, and some of it looks like somethin’ a magpie would drag home, all shiny and mismatched. But they say it’s the latest thing, so I guess some folks are buyin’ it.
They talkin’ about “2024 trends” and even “2025 trends.” Landsakes, I can barely keep track of what day it is, let alone what jewelry’s gonna be popular next year! But from what I gather, it’s gonna be a mix of old and new. Some of that old-timey fancy stuff, and some of that newfangled modern stuff, all mixed together. Like puttin’ a saddle on a racehorse, if you ask me.
And they got this word, “artisanal.” Means somebody made it by hand, I reckon. Not some machine in a factory, but a real person, hammerin’ and sawin’ and whatnot. That’s the kinda stuff that lasts, I tell ya. Not like that cheap stuff that falls apart after you wear it twice. They even got a guide for this kind of “artisanal adornments,” as they say. Sounds mighty uppity, but it just means handmade jewelry, I figure.
So, this “the world jewelry center website,” I bet it’s got all this stuff. Big earrings, little earrings, colorful stuff, shiny stuff, handmade stuff…the whole shebang. And I bet they got pictures, so you can gawk at it all without even leavin’ your easy chair. That’s somethin’, ain’t it? Progress, they call it.
Trends come and go, that’s what I always say. What’s hot today might be cold as a well digger’s backside tomorrow. But some things never change. People always gonna like somethin’ shiny, somethin’ pretty. And they always gonna find a way to show it off. Whether it’s a big ol’ necklace or a tiny little ring, it don’t matter. It’s the sparkle that counts, I reckon.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed the chickens. All this talk about fancy jewelry is makin’ my head spin. Give me a good pair of overalls and a sturdy pair of boots any day. But that’s just me, I guess. Some folks like the sparkle, and that’s alright too.
