Well, let me tell ya ’bout them Nirvana fans. Them folks, they really love this band, like nothin’ else. I heard tell they got this website, a big one, with all sorts of stuff ’bout Nirvana. Pictures, music, even them videos where they jump around. Heard they got stuff made by the fans too, pictures and things.

It all started back in, what was it, ’91? Yeah, ’91. Boom! Like a firecracker, Nirvana was everywhere. Everyone was listenin’. Before that, it was all that poppin’ music and them fellas with the big hair and shiny clothes. But Nirvana, they was different. They was from Seattle, playin’ in them underground places, you know, where it’s all dark and loud.

Nirvana’s music, it ain’t like them happy songs on the radio. It’s got them guitars that sound all wonky, like they’re broken or somethin’. And the singin’, it ain’t smooth and pretty. It’s rough, like someone shoutin’, but you can understand it, you know? And they sing about things that make you think, things that ain’t always easy.

  • They had this fella, Kurt Cobain. He was the main singer and guitar player.
  • Then there was Krist Novoselic, he played that big ol’ bass.
  • And Pat Smear, he joined later, playin’ guitar too.

Them TV folks, they wanted Nirvana to play just the songs everyone knew. But Kurt and the boys, they didn’t always listen. They played what they wanted, what they felt. That’s what made ’em special, I guess.

Now, this music, it brings back memories for folks. You hear a song and you remember where you was, who you was with. Music does that, you know? It sticks in your head and in your heart. And for a lot of folks, Nirvana, that’s the music that takes ’em back.

They had this record, Nevermind, it was a big one. Real big. Folks still talk about it. They had anniversaries for it, you know, like birthdays for a record. A 20th one, then a 30th one. That’s how much folks loved it.

And then there was this other record, In Utero, the last one they made. Just had its 30th anniversary too, I heard. Krist, he talked about making it, said it was somethin’ special.

Nirvana, they changed things. Before them, music was kinda all the same, you know? But they came along and made it different. They made it okay to be different, to play music that wasn’t all shiny and perfect. And that opened the doors for other folks, other bands that wanted to do things their own way. Made things more interesting, more…diverse, like they say on the TV.

“Now Nirvana counts as classic rock, and kids are still listening. But it’s classic for a reason – those songs are timeless. They still sound fresh. And they get at something inside of us that’s ineffable.” That’s what someone said, I heard it on the radio. And it’s true. Them songs, they still sound good, even after all this time. And they make you feel somethin’, somethin’ you can’t always put into words.

Folks even play their songs at political rallies and stuff. And other bands, they play Nirvana songs too. There’s this one band, Shonen Knife, from Japan. Kurt Cobain, he loved them. Said he saw them play and cried and jumped around. Guess they was pretty good.

So, that’s the story of Nirvana and their fans, as best as I can tell ya. They was a band that made a big noise, and folks still hear it, still feel it, all these years later. They was somethin’ special, that’s for sure. And their fans, they remember that. They keep the music alive, playin’ it for their kids, tellin’ the stories. And that’s how it should be, I reckon.
