My Little Quest for House’s Watches
Okay, so I got stuck on something kinda random the other week. I was kicking back, watching some old episodes of House M.D. – you know how it is, sometimes you just need that sarcastic genius fix. Anyway, I started noticing his watch. Like, really noticing it. And then I couldn’t stop thinking, what exact watches did he actually wear throughout the show?
So, naturally, I decided I had to figure it out. My first step was just paying super close attention during my rewatch. Easier said than done, honestly. The camera doesn’t exactly linger on his wrist. Lots of quick cuts, motion blur, you name it. I spent a good amount of time pausing, rewinding, trying to get a decent glimpse. Sometimes I’d grab my phone and try to snap a picture of the screen, hoping to zoom in later, which usually just gave me a blurry mess.
After getting frustrated with just watching, I did what everyone does – I started searching online. Just typed in simple things like “dr house watch list”, “what watches did greg house wear”, “house md casio watch”. That opened up a whole world of fan discussions, forum threads, and blog posts from people who’d already been down this path. It was kinda cool seeing how many others had the same curiosity.
Putting together what I saw and what others were saying, a few models kept popping up. Here’s what I pieced together:
- The Casio Pathfinder/Pro Trek: This one seems like the most recognized. Specifically models like the PAW-1200 or similar triple sensor ones. You see this chunky digital watch quite a bit, especially in the middle seasons. Makes sense for House, kinda practical but also techy.
- Hamilton Khaki King Automatic: People seem pretty sure he wore this one too, maybe in the later seasons. It’s got that day/date window at the top. A bit more classic looking than the Casio.
- Timex Expedition?: Saw some mentions of a Timex, possibly an Expedition model. Couldn’t find as much solid proof on this one compared to the others, might have been in earlier seasons or less frequently.
Sorting it all out wasn’t perfectly clear-cut. Sometimes the watches looked similar on screen, and different lighting or angles made it tricky. Plus, you have people online arguing back and forth, insisting it was this specific reference number or that slightly different model. It’s a real rabbit hole if you let it be.
Honestly, it was a fun little project for a weekend. Just satisfying that itch of curiosity. It doesn’t change the show or anything, but it’s interesting to see the kind of gear they picked for such an iconic character. Kinda makes you wonder if the prop master put a lot of thought into it, or just grabbed what looked right. Anyway, that was my little adventure into the world of Dr. House’s wristwear. Time well spent? Probably not, but it was entertaining!
