Okay, so I’ve been hearing about this Commons Club place at the Virgin Hotel in Chicago, and I finally decided to check it out. I’m always up for a new experience, especially when it involves a cool atmosphere and, you know, potentially some good food and drinks.

First thing I did was, well, I had to find the place. It’s tucked inside the Virgin Hotel, which is pretty easy to spot downtown. I walked in, and the hotel lobby itself is already pretty stylish – kind of modern and funky, but not in an over-the-top way.
I asked the front desk for directions to the Commons Club, just to be sure. They pointed me towards the back, and I followed the signs. It’s on the second floor, so you can either take the stairs or the elevator. I opted for the stairs, because, why not get a little exercise?
Getting There
The space itself is divided into different areas. There’s the main bar area, which is pretty lively, with lots of people chatting and having drinks. Then there’s a more lounge-y area, with comfy couches and armchairs – perfect for a more relaxed vibe. And they also have a dining area, which is a bit more formal.
Experiencing
I decided to grab a seat at the bar. I figured that’s where the action is, and I wanted to be in the middle of things. I ordered a drink – I can’t even remember what it was now, something fruity and refreshing – and just soaked in the atmosphere. It was a pretty mixed crowd, which I liked. Some people seemed to be there for after-work drinks, others were dressed up a bit more, like they were heading out for a night on the town.
- Sat at the bar.
- Ordered a drink.
- Observed the people.
- Enjoyed the general vibe.
I didn’t actually eat anything this time, but I did check out the menu. It looked pretty interesting – a mix of small plates and larger entrees. I saw a few dishes going by that looked pretty tasty, so I’ll definitely have to try the food next time.

Overall, I’d say the Commons Club is a pretty cool spot. It’s got a good energy, a stylish setting, and it seems like a great place to hang out with friends, grab a drink after work, or even have a nice dinner. I’ll definitely be going back, and next time, I’m getting some food!
