Okay, so I’ve been seeing combat boots popping up everywhere lately, and it got me thinking: are these things actually still cool in 2024? I decided to do some digging and, well, wear them around to see for myself.
My Little Experiment
First, I checked out some fashion blogs and magazines. I scrolled through a bunch of Instagram posts and looked at what some influencers were wearing. Seems like combat boots are definitely showing up in a lot of outfits, but not always in the classic, chunky way I remember.
Then, I dusted off my old pair of combat boots. You know, the standard black ones, kinda bulky. I tried them on with a few different outfits to get a feel for them.
- With jeans: This was the classic combo. I tried skinny jeans tucked in, and also some wider-leg jeans over the boots. Both looked pretty good, actually. The skinny jeans felt a bit more “classic” and the wider jeans felt a little more modern.
- With a dress: I was a bit hesitant about this one, but I threw on a floral midi dress and… I kinda liked it! It gave the dress a bit of an edge, you know? Made it less girly.
- With shorts: Okay, this one was a bit trickier. I paired them with some denim shorts, and it felt a little… much. Maybe it was just my shorts, but it felt like I was trying too hard.
What I’ve Realized
So, after wearing them around, I realized the way to wear those boots is not to make them too out of tune with my outfit. I learned to balance the clunky boots by paring light clothes. And to make my legs visually longer, I chose to show more of my legs while wearing them.
After my little experiment, I’d say combat boots are still in style in 2024, but it’s all about how you wear them. They’re not just for that grungy look anymore. You can dress them up, dress them down… it’s all about finding what works for you and your own style. Don’t be afraid to play around with different looks!
