Okay, so I decided to try out one of those subscription boxes, you know, the ones you see all over Instagram? I went with Claire’s ’cause, well, nostalgia, and I figured it’d be a fun little surprise each month. Plus, my niece is getting to that age where she’s into all that glittery stuff, so I thought maybe I could share some of it with her.
Choosing the Box: First off, I went to the Claire’s website and found their subscription box section. They had a couple of different options, but I just went for the classic one. Signed up, put in my address and credit card info – the usual stuff. It was pretty straightforward, nothing too complicated.
The First Box Arrives: I was actually pretty excited when the first box showed up. It’s a bright pink box, you can’t miss it. Ripped it open, and inside was… a mixed bag, honestly. There was a sparkly headband, some cute hair clips with little charms on them, a sheet of nail stickers, and a small lip gloss. Okay, not bad!
What I Liked: The hair clips were actually pretty cute, and my niece absolutely loved them. The lip gloss smelled like bubblegum, which was a bit much for me, but she thought it was awesome. The nail stickers were easy to use, and they looked pretty fun.
What I Didn’t Like: The headband was a little too much, even for me. It was like, super sparkly and kind of cheap-feeling. I ended up donating it. And some of the stuff just felt a little… young? Like, maybe I’m just not the target audience anymore, haha.
Subsequent Boxes: I got a few more boxes over the next few months. Some were better than others. One box had a really cute phone charm, which I actually use. Another one had a bunch of temporary tattoos, which were fun for a day but then I was scrubbing glitter off my arm for a week.
Overall Impression: Honestly? It’s a bit hit or miss. Sometimes you get something really cute and fun, other times it’s just a bunch of stuff that ends up in a drawer somewhere. If you’re looking for high-quality stuff, this isn’t it. But if you want a cheap and cheerful little surprise each month, and you’re okay with some of it being a bit cheesy, then it might be worth a try.
Would I Recommend It? Maybe. It depends on what you’re looking for. If you have a younger niece or daughter who’s into all that Claire’s stuff, it could be a fun gift. But for me personally, I think I’m going to cancel my subscription. It was fun while it lasted, but I think I’m ready to move on to something else. Maybe a coffee subscription box next?
