Christie Brinkleys 80s Career: A Look Back at Her Peak

by Meredith Sassoon

Alright folks, let me tell you about my little deep dive into channeling some serious ’80s Christie Brinkley vibes. You know, that sun-kissed, effortless supermodel look? Yeah, that’s the goal. So, buckle up, ’cause it was a journey!

Christie Brinkleys 80s Career: A Look Back at Her Peak

First things first, I hit the internet. I mean, where else would you start? I searched for “Christie Brinkley 80s makeup tutorial” and “Christie Brinkley 80s hair.” There were tons of images and a few questionable videos. The key seemed to be a healthy glow, defined eyes, and big, bouncy hair. Got it.

Next up, the makeup bag raid. I dug out my old bronzer (thank goodness it wasn’t expired!), a navy blue eyeliner (essential!), and a pink blush. I even found a tube of bright pink lipstick lurking in the back. This was getting serious. I decided to start with the base. I went for a light foundation, focusing on evening out my skin tone. Then came the bronzer. I contoured my cheeks, forehead, and jawline, trying to create that sun-kissed look without looking like I’d been tangoed by an orange. It was a delicate balance, let me tell you.

Then, the eyes. Navy blue eyeliner along the upper lash line, smudged slightly for that lived-in look. A touch of shimmery eyeshadow on the lid – I went with a light gold. And lots of mascara. Like, a lot of mascara. Christie Brinkley didn’t mess around with her lashes.

The blush was next. I swirled it onto the apples of my cheeks, blending it upwards towards my temples. And finally, the lips. That bright pink lipstick was a bit intimidating, but I went for it. Blotting it down a bit to make it less…intense. I’m not trying to look like I just ate a flamingo.

Now for the hair. This was the tricky part. I don’t have Christie Brinkley’s glorious blonde mane. I’m a brunette with, shall we say, “manageable” hair. So, I knew I had to fake it. I started with a volumizing mousse, applied to damp hair. Then, I grabbed my trusty round brush and blow dryer. I spent a good half hour flipping my head upside down and trying to create some serious volume. The result? Let’s just say it was more “fluffy” than “beachy.”

I then remembered I had some old-school hot rollers hiding in a drawer. Figured, why not? I rolled sections of my hair, focusing on the top and front to create those classic ’80s waves. After letting them cool completely, I took them out and gently brushed through my hair. It actually looked…okay! Not exactly Christie Brinkley, but definitely a nod to the era.

The Verdict?

  • The makeup was surprisingly fun. I might actually incorporate the navy eyeliner into my regular routine.
  • The hair…well, it was an effort. I think I need a bigger round brush and maybe a professional stylist to truly nail the Christie Brinkley waves.

All in all, it was a fun little experiment. I definitely felt a bit more glamorous, even if I did look a bit like I was about to star in an ’80s music video. Would I wear this look every day? Probably not. But for a fun night out, or just a little pick-me-up? Absolutely! Maybe I’ll try Farrah Fawcett next…stay tuned!
