You get an invite, and the first thing that pops into your head, or maybe your partner’s head, is “What am I gonna wear?!” And then it’s all this pressure to get something new, something that screams “look at me, I’m fancy!”
I used to be like that, you know. Every big event, every wedding, every office holiday bash, I’d be out there, hitting the shops or scrolling online for hours. Trying to find that perfect, one-time-wonder outfit. Big mistake, most of the time.

And comfort? That’s my number one rule now. If I can’t sit down properly, or eat without a military operation, or dance a little if I feel like it, then it’s a no-go. Life’s too short to be squeezed into something that makes you miserable, just to impress people you probably won’t see again for another year, if ever.
It’s funny, because nobody’s ever said, “Oh, you wore that top to Sarah’s thing two years ago, didn’t you?” People don’t notice or care half as much as you think they do. They’re usually too busy worrying about their own outfits!
So yeah, that’s my take on fancy party clothes. Less fuss, more fun. That’s the way to go. I actually started doing this after that wedding disaster. It was like a switch flipped.
