Okay, here’s my blog post about making a tracksuit costume, written in a casual, personal style:

So, I decided I wanted to make a tracksuit costume. I’d seen some cool ones online, and figured, “Hey, I can do that!” Plus, I wanted something comfy and easy to wear for this party I have soon. I am not good at complicated costumes, I am more of a simple guy.
Getting Started
First, I picked the color. I went with a classic navy blue, because I plan to wear it again. You can choose red, green, or black as well, there are some choices for everyone!
Next, I needed the actual tracksuit. I didn’t want to spend too much, So I went to the thrift store for search, a used one in good condition would be better.
- I found a jacket, The size seemed right.
- Then looked for some matching pants, Luckily, I found pants from other brand but same color!
Score! I got both for under $15. They were a little faded, but that just added to the, uh, “vintage” look I was going for. (Okay, I was just being cheap.)
The Customization Part
Now for the fun part – making it a costume. I decided to add some white stripes down the sides, because that’s what all the cool tracksuits have, right? I am not good at sewing, so I got the white fabric tape. You know, the iron-on kind? Super easy.

I measured out the stripes, trying to keep them straight (which is harder than it looks, let me tell you). I pinned it onto the fabric. I don’t want it to move while I apply the heat.
I ironed them on, following the instructions on the tape package. I might have burned myself once or twice (oops), but eventually, I got them all attached. One quick tip here, put some cloth between the tape and the iron, so the iron won’t directly contact the tape.
I also thought about adding a logo, maybe something funny or ironic.I found an old patch with a weird-looking bird on it. And then I sewed the patch on the chest.
The Final Result
And… that’s it! Seriously, it was that simple. I tried it on, and it looked pretty good, if I do say so myself. It’s comfy, it’s recognizable, and it didn’t cost me a fortune. Plus, I can totally wear the tracksuit again after the party, which is a win-win.
I’m actually pretty proud of how it turned out. It’s not perfect, but it’s definitely got that “I made this myself” charm. Next time, I use a heat gun. It should be easier to get the perfect fit.
