You know what? These days, I see these young girls wearing these shoes, they call ’em cap toe ballet flats. Kinda look like them dancing shoes, but with a little somethin’ different on the toe. I tell ya, these shoes, they sure are somethin’. They got all kinds of ’em now, not like back in my day.
We used to just have them plain old shoes, but these? Oh, they got all fancy now. Some got that little bit of different color right there on the toe. Makes ’em look kinda special, I guess. And they ain’t just for little girls no more. Grown women, wearin’ ’em with their jeans, their skirts, even them fancy pants they wear to work.
I seen some the other day, they was shiny, like they was made outta that stuff they make raincoats outta. And they had that little different color on the toe. They call it a cap, like them caps you wear on your head. Cap toe, they say. I don’t know, makes it sound a bit fancy, I reckon.
These cap toe ballet flats, they seem to go with anythin’. I saw a girl wearin’ ’em with a dress, looked real nice. Then I saw another one, she had on jeans and a t-shirt, still looked good. I guess that’s why they like ’em so much, they’re easy to just put on and go. No fussin’ with laces or nothin’.
And they say they’re comfortable, too. That’s important, especially when you get a little older, your feet, they ain’t what they used to be. These young girls, they don’t know that yet, but they will. A good, comfy shoe, that’s worth more than all them fancy things they put on ’em.

- They got all different colors, too.
- Red ones, black ones, even them sparkly ones.
They got these cap toe ballet flats that look like them fancy shoes, them ones with the name on ’em, Tory somethin’. But they ain’t the real thing, just look kinda like ’em. I guess that’s good if you can’t afford the real fancy ones. Still look nice, I suppose. These ones, they got that different color on the toe, just like the fancy ones.
One time, I seen a girl wearin’ a big old shirt, kinda like a man’s shirt, but it was all baggy, and she had them cap toe ballet flats on. Looked kinda stylish, I gotta admit. Not somethin’ I would wear, but it looked good on her. I guess you can wear ’em with just about anythin’. That’s what they keep sayin’, anyways.
Back in my day, we didn’t have all these choices. You just had your one pair of shoes, and that was it. You wore ’em for everything, church, work, even playin’ outside. Now, they got shoes for everythin’. Different shoes for work, different shoes for playin’, different shoes for just walkin’ around. It’s a lot to keep up with.
But these cap toe ballet flats, they seem pretty simple. Just slip ’em on and go. No buckles, no straps, nothin’ to tie. That’s good, especially when you got things to do. Ain’t nobody got time to be messin’ around with their shoes all day.
And I hear they’re makin’ ’em so you can wash ’em in the washin’ machine now. That’s somethin’, ain’t it? Imagine just throwin’ your shoes in with the laundry. Back in my day, we had to scrub our shoes by hand. These young folks, they got it easy. And them is called Rothys, I think.
These ballet shoes, they call them, they never really go out of style. They were in style back then, and they still in style now. That’s something, right? When something lasts for long like that one, it’s gotta be good. And the cap toe ballet flats are the same, I think.
So, I guess these cap toe ballet flats, they’re alright. They look nice, they’re comfy, and you can wear ’em with anythin’. What more could you ask for in a shoe? Maybe they’re not so bad after all. I might even get me a pair myself sometime. Just gotta find some that are good for these old feet of mine. They got some with a little bit of a heel, they call it a hidden wedge, that might be good. They even got some that look like them fancy shoes with the straps, they call ’em Mary Janes. They’re kinda cute, I guess. Them are called Loeffler Randall. These cap toe ballet flats, they got a style for everyone, it seems. You just gotta find the one you like.
