Okay, so I’ve been seeing these pointy finger rings all over, and I finally decided to give it a shot and make one myself. I’m not gonna lie, it was a bit trickier than I thought, but super satisfying in the end!

First, I gathered my materials. I already had some wire from a previous project, so I used that. I also needed some pliers – needle-nose and round-nose – and that’s pretty much it. Oh, and my fingers, of course!
Getting Started
- I cut a piece of wire, maybe about 6 inches long? I didn’t measure, just eyeballed it. Better to have too much than too little, right?
- Then, I used the round-nose pliers to make a small loop at one end of the wire. This is gonna be the base of the pointy part.
The next part was a little finicky. I had to wrap the wire around the loop a few times, kind of making a cone shape. I used my fingers and the pliers to squish it down and make it tighter. It wasn’t perfect, but hey, it’s handmade!
Forming the Ring
Once I had the pointy part kinda sorted, I wrapped the remaining wire around my finger to get the size right. I made sure it was snug, but not too tight. You gotta be able to get it on and off, obviously!
- I used the pliers to bend the wire where it met the pointy part, creating the ring shape.
- Then, I carefully wrapped the extra wire around the base of the pointy bit, securing everything together.
The last part was dealing with that sharp end of the wire. I use the pliers to tuck it in and make a small loop, so that it wouldn’t poke me.
And that’s it! It’s not perfect, definitely has that “rustic” look, but I made it! It’s a little wobbly, and the point isn’t super sharp, but I’m pretty proud of my first attempt. I might try making another one, maybe try to make it a bit more refined next time. Practice makes perfect, they say, and that also what make it fun!
