So, I finally did it. I got myself a pair of those Dolce and Gabbana black and gold sunglasses I’d been eyeing for ages. It wasn’t exactly an impulse buy, let me tell you.

It started a few months back. My old trusty sunglasses, the ones I’d had for maybe five years, finally gave up the ghost. One of the arms just snapped clean off. Annoying. So, I needed a new pair. I started looking around, mostly online at first, just browsing, you know? Seeing what was out there.
I kept noticing this black and gold style popping up. Looked pretty sharp, I thought. Classy, but still kinda bold. Then I saw a pair specifically from Dolce and Gabbana. Man, they looked good. Really stood out. I saved a picture, kept thinking about them.
Deciding to Go For It
Now, these things aren’t cheap, right? That was the main sticking point. I hummed and hawed about it for weeks. Is it worth splashing out that much on sunglasses? My practical side was saying “just get a decent £30 pair”, but another part really wanted something a bit special this time. Something that felt good to wear and would hopefully last.
I figured, look, I wear sunglasses a lot, especially driving and even just walking around when it’s bright. Might as well get something I really like. So, I decided to treat myself.
Getting My Hands on Them
I actually went to a proper store to buy them. I wanted to try them on first, see how they actually felt on my face, you know? Sometimes things look great online but weird in real life.

- Found a department store that stocked them.
- Asked the assistant to get them out of the case.
- Tried them on. Felt solid, good weight.
They looked pretty much like they did in the pictures, maybe even better. The gold wasn’t too flashy, just a nice accent against the black frames. Felt comfortable too, didn’t pinch behind the ears or slide down my nose. So, yeah, I bought them right then and there.
First Impressions and Using Them
Getting them home was like a mini-event. The packaging itself was pretty fancy. Nice sturdy case, little cleaning cloth, all that jazz. Made it feel like a proper premium item.
Putting them on again at home, they just felt… right.
Been wearing them for about two weeks now. Here’s the practical bit, the actual experience:
- Clarity: The lenses are really good. Everything looks crisp and clear, cuts down glare brilliantly when I’m driving. Big step up from my old pair.
- Comfort: Wore them for a whole afternoon out walking the other day, totally forgot I had them on sometimes. No discomfort at all.
- Looks: Okay, I admit it, they look cool. Feel a bit more put-together when I wear them. Haven’t had anyone stop me in the street or anything, but I feel good wearing them, and that’s the main thing.
- Build: They feel really well-made. Solid hinges, frames feel durable. Hopefully, they’ll last longer than my last pair!
So, Was It Worth It?
Yeah, I think so. It was a bit of a splurge, no doubt about it. But they look great, feel great, and the quality seems top-notch. If they last me a good few years, then the cost per wear works out okay in my head. It’s one of those little things that just makes you feel good, you know? Happy I finally went for it.
