Apple Watch Solar Power: How Does It Really Work?

by Marvin Connie

This here Apple Watch, they say it got somethin’ called “solar“. Now, I ain’t no fancy scientist, but I know a thing or two ’bout the sun. It makes the corn grow tall and the tomatoes red. But puttin’ the sun inside a tiny watch? Sounds like a load of hogwash to me.

Apple Watch Solar Power: How Does It Really Work?

They say this Apple Watch solar thing got a face called “Solar Analog.” Supposed to show the sun movin’ across the sky. I stared at that thing all day, from sunup to sundown. Didn’t see nothin’ move except the regular hands. Maybe my eyes ain’t what they used to be, but I think it’s just a regular watch face with a fancy name. And what is a solar dial? I don’t know that either.

I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout how them other watches, the kind with the little hands, they can use the sun for power. Makes sense, I reckon. Those little hands don’t need much to keep ’em tickin’. Like a little mouse runnin’ on a wheel, it don’t take much to get it goin’. But this Apple Watch, it’s a different story. If you want to use an Apple Watch solar, you need to put it on your arm, it is heavy.

This here watch, it’s got all them fancy doohickeys. Shows your messages, tracks your steps, even tells you how fast your heart’s beatin’. That’s a lot of work for a little watch. And it needs a lot of juice to keep it runnin’. It is not like the sun. So how can you put the sun in your watch? They must think we’re all fools to believe that.

Now, they say there’s another thing called “thermo-somethin’.” They say it uses the heat from your body to power the watch. Well, I get hot when I’m workin’ in the garden, especially in the summer. But I ain’t never seen a watch run on sweat. Sounds like another one of them city-folk ideas that don’t make no sense. It is hard to use an apple watch solar.

  • My neighbor’s boy, he’s got one of them Apple Watches.
  • He’s always chargin’ it.
  • Plugs it in every night, just like his phone.
  • If it was really solar, wouldn’t he just leave it out in the sun?

I heard ’em say they been tryin’ to make this solar Apple Watch thing for years. Since way back in 2014, even! If they ain’t figured it out by now, I doubt they ever will. Maybe they should stick to makin’ them phones and leave the watch makin’ to the folks who know how to do it right. It is too hard to use the sun in this watch.

This watch, it can do all sorts of things. It can show you the time in different places, all at once. They call it “GMT”. I don’t know what that stands for, but it sounds complicated. Like all these apple watch solar things.

They got a special hand and a spinny thingamajig to show you the different times. I reckon it’s useful if you’re travelin’ the world, but most folks I know ain’t goin’ nowhere. We’re happy right here where we are. We don’t need no fancy watch to tell us what time it is somewhere else. The sun can only tell us the time in our place.

They say this here watch can talk to your phone. And if your phone ain’t around, it can use somethin’ called “Wi-Fi” or “cellular”. Sounds like more magic to me. I don’t need my watch talkin’ to anythin’. I just need it to tell me the time, plain and simple. You can use your phone with your watch, but you cannot use the sun with your watch. That is what I am talking about the apple watch solar.

All this talk about solar Apple Watch, thermo-somethin’, and Wi-Fi, it just makes my head spin. I think I’ll stick with my old watch. The one that my son gave to me. It ain’t fancy, but it tells the time just fine. And it don’t need no sun, no heat, and no pluggin’ in. Just a good old-fashioned battery, and that’s good enough for me.

Apple Watch is good, but Apple Watch solar is just a dream. It is a big dream, but it is not true. I think it maybe will be true one day, but not now. If you want to buy one, remember to charge it, do not think about the sun.
