Air Max 90 Photon Dust Review: Is It Worth the Hype?

Okay, here’s my blog post about customizing the Air Max 90 “Photon Dust”:

Air Max 90 Photon Dust Review: Is It Worth the Hype?

So, I finally got my hands on a pair of Air Max 90s in the “Photon Dust” colorway. I’d been eyeing them for a while, you know, that super clean, mostly grey look. But I always feel like I gotta add my own little touch to things, make ’em unique.

The Plan

My initial thought was, “Okay, these are too plain. I need some POP.” I didn’t want to go crazy, though. Just something subtle that would make them stand out without looking like I dipped them in a rainbow.

  • First step: Figure out what I didn’t want. No wild paint splatters, no crazy color blocking. I wanted to keep it classy.
  • Second step: Find some inspiration. I started by just browsing and, just kinda looking at what other people had done.
  • Third step: Decide on the actual customization.

Getting to Work

I grabbed my basic supplies. It is not difficult. I prepare them myself.

After some thinking, I figured a simple lace swap and maybe a tiny bit of paint detailing would do the trick. I went with some light sail-colored laces that my friend gave me. The difference was immediately noticeable. They gave the shoes a much warmer, vintage-y vibe, which I really dug.

I thought some areas, need a little somethin’ extra. I grabbed the paints I found in my room. I put a tiny bit of paint on the brush – seriously, you barely need any – and carefully touched up the edges around the swoosh and the little Air Max window on the side.

The Result

Man, I was stoked with how they turned out! It’s such a small change, really, but it makes a huge difference. They’re still super versatile, I can wear them with pretty much anything, but they’ve got that little personal touch that makes them feel like mine. It is cool!

I’ve worn them out a few times now, and I’ve already gotten some compliments. It’s a good feeling, knowing you created something unique, even if it’s just a little tweak to a pair of sneakers.

That’s all. I just tried, did it and enjoyed it!
