Hey everyone, today I wanna share my recent journey on getting overlay on my natural nails. You know, I’ve always been envious of those folks with flawless, long, and strong nails. So, I decided to give gel overlay a shot, and boy, has it been a game-changer!
I did a little digging online and found out there are tons of places offering acrylic nails in Columbus. I mean, seriously, it was overwhelming! But I stumbled upon this thing called “gel overlay” that’s supposed to strengthen your natural nails without adding length.
So, I started looking for the “best all-natural nail salon” around here. And guess what? Yelp had a whole list! I saw names like The Beauty Box Organic Salon & Spa, Blush Nail Lounge, and a few others. I finally picked one that seemed nice and had good reviews – Lacquer Gallery.
Making the Appointment

- They explained their “Nail Overlays” service.
- Booked an appointment for the next day.
The next day I went in for my appointment. I nervously sat down and got ready to do this for the first time. The lady started working, and I watched as she carefully did her thing. I was really curious about the process. She applied this gel stuff to my nails and used some kind of light to make it hard. It didn’t take too long, and before I knew it, my nails looked shiny and felt stronger.
At the Salon

The Gel Overlay Process
- The technician cleaned my nails.
- Applied a thin layer of gel.
- Cured the gel under a UV lamp.
- Repeated the process a couple of times.
- Filed and shaped my nails.
- Finished with a glossy top coat.
I ended up paying around 60 bucks for the whole thing, not too bad. I also found out that I’d need to go back for refills every few weeks, which would cost a bit less, like 35 dollars or so. But she did mention that depending on how long your nails are or if you want any extra stuff like crystals or designs, the price might change.
After the Appointment

Living with Gel Overlay
It’s been two weeks now, and I’m loving it! My nails haven’t chipped or broken once. I’ve been able to do all my usual stuff without worrying about them. Even better, they still look pretty good, though I’m starting to see some growth at the base. It’s like the overlays have given my nails a protective shield, letting them grow out longer and healthier than ever before. I’m definitely hooked and already scheduled my refill appointment. Overall, I’m super happy with my decision to try gel overlay. It’s been a total game-changer for me and my nails. It is so exciting!
