Man, let me tell you about this whole Ja 1 “Christmas” thing. It’s been a bit of a journey, to say the least. So, I saw these kicks were dropping on December 19th, and I knew I had to try and get my hands on them. I’m not usually one to jump on the hype train, but these looked too good to pass up.
Getting Ready
First things first, I had to do some digging. I checked out all the info I could find on these shoes. Style code? FV5558-500. Got it. Retail price? $130. Not too bad. Then came the hard part: figuring out where to actually buy them. It seemed like every sneaker shop and their mother was doing raffles for these things.
The Raffle Hustle
- I spent hours entering every raffle I could find. Each one had its own little rules and hoops to jump through.
- Follow this account, tag three friends, share this post – you name it, I did it.
- Honestly, it felt like a full-time job just keeping track of all the entries.
Waiting Game
After all that, it was just a waiting game. I tried not to get my hopes up too much, but it was tough. Every time my phone buzzed, I thought, “This is it!” But nope, just another spam email or a notification that someone liked my cat picture on Instagram.
The Big Day (or Not)
December 19th finally rolled around. I woke up early, feeling like a kid on Christmas morning. Checked my email, nothing. Checked the sneaker apps, nothing. All day, I kept refreshing, hoping for some good news. But as the day went on, it became pretty clear that I wasn’t one of the lucky ones.
Moving On
It was a bummer, no doubt. But you know what? It’s just a pair of shoes. There will be others. And honestly, the whole experience was kind of fun in a weird way. It was like a little adventure, even though I didn’t end up with the treasure at the end. I heard these are pretty narrow fit, and designed for specific playstyle, might not good for me. These are sticky though, bounce is also good. Anyway, I heard from others these are one of the most solid performers for the price. So, maybe I’ll try to snag a pair on the resale market, or maybe I’ll just wait for the next cool release. Who knows?
