Today, I wanna talk about how I checked the serial number on my Michael Kors purse to make sure it was the real deal. I bought this bag a while back, and you know, with all those fakes out there, I just wanted to be extra sure I got what I paid for.

So, first things first, I had to find the serial number. I remembered reading somewhere that it’s usually hidden inside the bag. I started by checking all the pockets, and then I looked along the seams.
- Flipped the bag inside out.
- Checked the pockets.
- Inspected all the seams.
Finally, I found this little tag tucked away near the bottom seam. It was kind of small and easy to miss. And on the tag, I can see the code. The code is printed in a tiny font size, so I took a picture with my phone and zoomed in.
Checking the Tag
Now, I know this tag is supposed to be there in a real Michael Kors bag. From what I gathered online, some older bags have a leather tag with “Michael” and “Michael Kors” stamped on it, but mine had a white tag with text on it. There should be text on both sides. I examined my tag, made sure it had that. It looked legit, but I still wanted to be 100% sure.
The information I found online mentioned that this tag should have a 12-digit code. This code is super important because it’s got the serial number, the style number, and even the color of the bag. My tag had this code.
Verifying the Serial Number
So, I typed it into a search engine to see if there’s a way to verify these codes. This is where things get a bit tricky, because there isn’t like an official Michael Kors serial number checker. But there are some websites that offer authentication services.

I found a website that seemed pretty legit. It mentioned that it analyzes your item and gives you a certificate. It wasn’t free, but I figured it was worth a small price for peace of mind. I entered my serial number on the website.
After a little while, I got the results back. And guess what? My bag was authentic! It was such a relief to know that I hadn’t been scammed. I saved the certificate to my computer in case I ever need it. This whole process made me realize how important it is to be careful when buying designer stuff.
It’s a bit of a process, but definitely worth it to make sure you’re getting a real Michael Kors bag. There are a lot of fakes out there, so better safe than sorry, right?
