Man, making grills is such a trip. I remember when I first got into it, I was all about those flashy, iced-out pieces. But lately, I’ve been feeling something a little more… personal. Something that tells a story, you know?
So, I hit up my boy ASAP Rocky. He’s always pushing the boundaries of fashion, and I knew he’d be down for something unique. We started brainstorming, throwing ideas back and forth. It was a real collaborative process. I wanted to create a grill that was more than just an accessory. This time I tried to capture his journey, his influences, and his loved ones.
First thing I did was sketch out some designs. I took inspiration from a bunch of different places. After a few rounds of revisions, we finally landed on something we both loved: an eight-tooth top grill. Sounds simple enough, right? But here’s where it gets interesting.
I decided to incorporate enamel paintings into the design. Each tooth would feature a portrait of someone who meant something to Rocky. We’re talking about Takeoff, Virgil Abloh, and ASAP Yams. I spent hours, man, hunched over my workbench, meticulously painting each portrait. It was painstaking work, but I wanted to make sure each one was perfect. It was a real challenge, but hey, that’s what makes it fun, right?
And of course, no grill would be complete without some bling. I added some subtle diamond accents to really make the piece pop. When I finally finished, I was so proud of how it turned out. It was exactly what we had envisioned: a beautiful, meaningful piece of jewelry that told a story.

The Final Result

I think it turned out amazing. The grill was debuted at the recent Yams Day, and people seemed to really dig it. It’s been getting a lot of attention, and I’m stoked about that. It’s always cool to see your work appreciated, you know?
