The Hunt Begins
Okay so last week I decided I gotta grab those Air Max Penny 1s, you know, the classic blue ones? Remembered seeing them back in the day and always wanted a pair. First thing I did was grab my phone like “right, let’s see who’s got ’em”.

Jumped onto a few big sneaker apps first thing. Typed “Air Max Penny 1” real quick but wow, prices were wild! Some dudes wanted like triple what I thought was fair. Felt kinda annoyed shaking my head like “nope, not paying that much for kicks”.
Digging Deeper
Figured maybe those apps weren’t it this time. Started hitting up smaller sneaker groups – you know, those Facebook ones where regular folks post stuff. Scrolled for hours honestly, my eyes kinda burning, seeing mostly trash but staying hopeful.
Told my buddy Mike I was hunting these down. He goes “Oh! Try that little spot downtown, the consignment one by the pizza place”. Rushed over there after work Wednesday. Guy behind the counter just shrugged saying “Had one pair months ago, gone now”. Felt that heart drop for real.
Then Thursday morning got lucky! Saw a post from some dude just cleaning out his closet, posted pics of the Pennys looking crispy. Size matched mine too! Messaged him quick as lightning like “Yo, still got these??”.
Sealing the Deal
We met up at the mall food court Saturday morning. Bro brought the shoebox and everything. Did the whole routine:

- Checked insoles – no weird crinkles or tears
- Sniff test – seriously, no funky smells!
- Looked for glue stains – all clean around the soles
Haggled a bit, got him down thirty bucks cash. Shook hands feeling like a champ walking out with that box under my arm!
So Here’s What Worked
Honestly? Patience is everything. Almost bought fakes twice getting desperate. Real tips that saved me:
- Small groups > big apps for older gems like these
- Tell everyone you know – Mike’s tip got me close
- Meet daylight – almost impossible to hide flaws in sunshine
- Cash talks – bills in hand get better prices
Took like ten days total but worth every minute once you lace ’em up. Felt like 90s magic on feet!
