Battle Plan Execution
First, slapped hair oil on the ends so it stops acting like straw. Then poured water on my hands and scrunched it mid-way down cause this mop DRINKS moisture. Brushed slow starting from the ends – heard ripping sounds, stopped, finger-combed knots first. Divided hair into messy halves like the guide said, but ended up with a wonky side part cause my cowlick fought back.
Twisted each side kinda tight toward the back like rolling up newspaper. Smashed both twists together like I’m making a breadbundle. Held that mess with one hand while fishing for a hair tie with the other – dropped it twice. Looped the tie three times (fourth loop never happens with this thickness).
This wad of hair was sticking out like a tumor. Rammed one spin pin deep sideways through the bump. Still wobbly? Stabbed the second pin in criss-cross. Poked some loose hairs back in with pinky finger. Whole process took 15 minutes first try.
End Result Check
Looked in the mirror expecting a Pinterest fail. Actually didn’t look half bad – kinda messy-chic? More importantly, NOT touching my neck in this heat. Survived grocery shopping and toddler wrestling. Few hairs escaped post-nap but didn’t fully collapse. Called that a victory.
Day 3 update: Down to 7 minutes. Still looks janky compared to the tutorial girls, but my neck’s cool and it holds. Moral of the story? Thick hair never gets “easy” but gets survivable fast with the right weaponry.
