Change Tamagotchi Time (Fast)

by Alice Browne

Alright, so let me tell you about what I was fiddling with the other day. My trusty old Tamagotchi, believe it or not, still kicking! But the time on it was completely off. I think it happened after I had to swap out the batteries a while back, and it just reset to some default time that made no sense for my daily routine. My little digital buddy was waking up and going to sleep at the weirdest hours, totally out of sync with real life. It was driving me a bit nuts, especially when it wanted attention while I was trying to get some work done.

Change Tamagotchi Time (Fast)

Figuring Out the Time Thing

So, I decided I had to fix it. First, I just stared at the thing, trying to remember how on earth you change settings on these classic gadgets. It’s not like they have a nice touchscreen menu, right? I started by pressing the A button (the left one) a few times, hoping a clock icon or something would magically appear. Nope. Then I tried the B button (the middle one) – that just cycled through the usual status screens like hunger and happiness. The C button (the right one) usually confirms things or turns off the sound, so that wasn’t it either, at least not on its own.

I was getting a little frustrated, just randomly pushing buttons and making my Tamagotchi beep at me. I almost gave up and thought, “Well, guess it’s living in its own little time zone now.” But then, I had this vague recollection. On these older devices, you often have to press a combination of buttons or press one button when you’re not looking at the main screen.

The Actual Steps That Worked

So, I gave it another shot with a clearer head. I made sure I was on the main screen where you just see your character wandering about. Then I did the following, and it was surprisingly straightforward once I remembered the trick:

  • First off, I pressed the B button. This is the button that usually lets you see the clock, among other things. So, I pressed it until the time was actually displayed on the screen.
  • Okay, here’s the crucial part. With the clock showing, I then pressed the A button and the C button at the same time. You gotta hold them down together for just a second or two.
  • And boom! The screen changed, and the hour digits started flashing. Success! This was the “set time” mode I was looking for.
  • To change the hour, I used the A button to go up and the B button to go down. Pretty simple. I set the correct hour.
  • Once the hour was right, I pressed the C button to confirm it and move over to the minutes.
  • Same deal for the minutes: A button to increase, B button to decrease. I got those set perfectly.
  • Finally, one last press of the C button, and that was it! The time was set, and it saved my changes.

And just like that, my Tamagotchi was back in sync with the real world. No more demands for virtual snacks at 3 AM! It’s funny how these simple things can be a bit of a puzzle if you haven’t done them in ages. But now, peace is restored to my digital pet-keeping. It’s actually quite satisfying to get these little things sorted out. Hope this helps anyone else out there wrestling with an old-school Tamagotchi clock!
