Okay, so I finally tried that honey blonde formula I’ve been seeing everywhere, and lemme tell ya, it was a journey!

First things first, I gathered my supplies. I grabbed my usual developer, the toner I swear by, and of course, the star of the show – the honey blonde color. I spent ages looking at different shades online before settling on one that looked warm and golden, not too brassy.
Then came the fun part: the bleach. My hair is naturally pretty dark, so I knew I needed to lighten it up a few levels to get that true honey blonde. I mixed the bleach according to the instructions (seriously, READ the instructions, people!), and started applying it to my roots. I worked my way down, making sure to saturate every strand evenly. This took FOREVER. Seriously, my arms were burning.
After what felt like an eternity, I rinsed the bleach out. My hair was definitely lighter, but also kinda orange-y. Not the end of the world, I knew the toner would fix that. I quickly shampooed and towel-dried my hair, ready for the next step.
I mixed the toner with the developer, following the instructions again. Then, I applied it all over my hair, focusing on those orange-y bits. I let it sit for the recommended time, constantly checking in the mirror to make sure it wasn’t going too ashy. Patience is key here, people! Don’t rush it!
Finally, rinse time! I rinsed and rinsed until the water ran clear. Then, I used a deep conditioner to try and put some moisture back into my poor, processed hair. Bleaching is rough, y’all.

After letting my hair air dry a bit, I blow-dried it the rest of the way. And… drumroll please… it actually looked pretty good! The color was a warm, golden honey blonde, just like I wanted. There were a couple of slightly uneven patches, but nothing too noticeable.
Here’s the breakdown:
- Prep: Gathered all the stuff – developer, toner, honey blonde color.
- Bleach: Bleached my roots and worked down, making sure it was all even.
- Toner Time: Mixed and applied toner to kill the orange.
- Condition: Deep conditioned like my life depended on it.
- Dry & Style: Blow-dried and styled to see the final result.
Overall, I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It’s not perfect, but it’s definitely a good start. I’ll probably touch up those uneven patches later, but for now, I’m rocking my new honey blonde hair!
The biggest lesson learned? Patience and good conditioner are your best friends when bleaching your hair at home!
