Getting My Hands on City of Stars

Alright, so let me tell you about this Louis Vuitton thing, City of Stars. Wasn’t really looking for anything new, to be honest. I kinda stick to what I know, you know? But then I kept seeing it around, online mostly. People talking it up. Usually, I ignore that stuff, especially high-end brand things. Feels a bit much sometimes.

But the name, ‘City of Stars’, it kinda got stuck in my head. Reminded me of that movie, maybe? Or just the idea of LA nights, something bright and maybe a little hopeful. I dunno. Anyway, I was out one weekend, just wandering around, not planning on buying anything serious. Walked past the LV store. Normally I just walk right on by, window shopping at most.

This time, though, I just stopped. Thought about that name again. Felt a bit silly, but I figured, what’s the harm in just checking it out? So, I actually went inside. Felt a bit out of place for a second, everything’s so shiny and perfect in there. Found the perfume section. There it was. Simple bottle, nice color liquid inside.

Asked if I could try it. The salesperson was nice enough, sprayed a bit on one of those paper strips. First sniff? Okay, citrus. Lemon, maybe? Lime? Definitely bright. Wasn’t sure if it was just another citrus scent, you know? There are tons of those.

But I took the little paper thing with me, kept walking around the mall. Every now and then I’d give it another sniff. It started changing a bit. Became less sharp, more… smooth? Hard to put my finger on it. There was something else underneath the citrus. Something a bit warmer, maybe a tiny bit flowery but not like old-lady perfume. More like night air, if that makes sense?

I didn’t buy it right then. Went home. Kept thinking about it though, which was weird for me. Usually, if I don’t buy something on the spot, I forget about it. But this lingered. The next week, I found myself thinking, ‘You know what? Why not.’ Life’s short, right? Treat yourself sometimes.

So, I went back. Did the whole thing again, went inside, found the counter. Felt a bit more confident this time. Bought the bottle. Didn’t get the biggest one, just started with a standard size. Took it home, unboxed it. The packaging is always fancy with these brands, gotta give them that.

Been using it now and then. Not every day. More for when I want a little pick-me-up, or going out in the evening. It does feel kinda… optimistic? Like putting on a good mood. It’s not magic, it’s just perfume. But yeah, the experience of deciding, trying, and finally getting it was kinda interesting. Stepping out of my usual routine for a bit.

  • First impression: Bright citrus, almost sharp.
  • After a while: Smoother, warmer, a bit musky maybe?
  • Feeling: Kinda uplifting, good for evenings.

So that’s my little adventure with Louis Vuitton’s City of Stars. Just a regular guy trying something different. It’s nice. Glad I went for it.
