Okay, so I’ve been blonde for ages, like, pretty much my natural color just maybe bumped up a bit over the years. But lately, I was looking in the mirror and thinking, ugh, it’s just a bit… flat? You know? Needed a little something.
Time for a Change (But Not Too Much!)
I didn’t want to go dark or anything crazy. Still wanted to be blonde. I started looking around, scrolling through pics online, and kept seeing these really nice caramel blonde highlights. Looked warm, kinda sunkissed, but still definitely blonde. Seemed like the perfect way to add some dimension without a total overhaul. Yeah, that felt right.
Getting it Done
So, I booked an appointment with my usual hair person. Went in, showed her a couple of pictures I saved on my phone. We chatted for a bit about how chunky or fine I wanted the highlights, where to place them, you know, the usual stuff. She totally got what I was going for.
Then the process started. She sectioned off my hair. Mixed up the lightener, I think? Smelled like hair dye stuff does. She started weaving out tiny sections and painting on the stuff, then wrapped them in foils. Lots and lots of foils. It took a while. I just sat there, flicking through a magazine they had, trying not to fidget too much.
Waiting Game…
Once all the foils were in, I just had to wait. She checked them a couple of times, pulling out a strand to see how it was lifting. It always feels like forever when you’re just sitting there with a head full of foil, right? Finally, she said it looked ready.
Over to the sink we went. Rinsing out the lightener felt good. Then she put on a toner – she said this was to get that specific caramel shade, make sure it wasn’t too brassy or too ashy. Let that sit for a few more minutes. More waiting! Then rinse, wash, condition. The conditioner smelled amazing, super fancy salon stuff.
The Big Reveal
She towel-dried my hair and took me back to the chair. Started blow-drying. As my hair dried, I could start seeing the highlights pop through. It wasn’t like, BAM! streaks. It was subtle, woven through my existing blonde. When she finished drying and added a bit of wave with the iron, wow! It looked really good.
The caramel bits just warmed everything up. My hair didn’t look flat anymore; it had depth. It still looked like my hair, just… better? More interesting. It catches the light differently now. Super happy with how it turned out. It was exactly the little refresh I needed.
