Alright, let’s talk about this ‘exp share diamond’ thing I’ve been working on. It took a bit of trial and error, but I think I finally got a decent system down, and I wanted to share how I got there.

So, the whole thing started because leveling up with my usual group felt kinda slow. You know how it is, sometimes one person lags behind, or the experience points just don’t seem to spread out right, especially in those crowded farming spots. We were bouncing around different areas, trying different tactics, but nothing really clicked for smooth, shared progress.
Finding the Sweet Spot
I spent a good chunk of time just scouting, looking for a place that wasn’t too packed but had a decent monster respawn rate. Found this little nook, kinda tucked away, where mobs would path in a predictable way. It wasn’t exactly diamond-shaped, but the way we ended up positioning ourselves kinda made it feel that way.
The first few tries were messy. We just grouped up roughly in the center. Mobs came from weird angles, healers couldn’t reach everyone easily, and the damage dealers were sometimes pulling threat off the main tank. The experience gain was okay, but not great, and definitely not efficient.
Figuring Out the Formation
So, I thought, okay, we need structure. I remembered some old tactics from other games and suggested we try a specific setup.
- We put our tank right at the front, the ‘point’ of the diamond, facing where most mobs came from.
- Then, two damage dealers stood slightly back and to the sides, forming the ‘wings’. They could hit the main target but also pick off anything that slipped past or came from the flanks.
- I usually took the ‘back’ point, playing support or ranged damage, positioned so I could easily reach everyone with heals or buffs.
This simple change made a huge difference. The tank could hold aggro much better. The damage dealers had clear lines of sight. And I could keep everyone topped up without running around like crazy.

Refining the Pull and Flow
Getting the positions right was step one. Step two was managing the flow of monsters. We designated one of the ‘wing’ players as the primary puller. They learned just how many mobs to grab without overwhelming the tank. It took practice – sometimes they pulled too many, sometimes too few. We wiped a couple of times figuring that balance out.
We also got our skill rotations synced up. The tank focused on keeping threat, the damage dealers burned down the targets in a specific order (usually weakest first or highest threat first), and I focused on buffs and emergency heals. It became this smooth rhythm: pull, position, burn, heal, repeat.
The Result: Consistent EXP
After a few sessions refining this ‘diamond’ setup, the difference was night and day. The experience points started rolling in much faster and, more importantly, everyone in the group was getting consistent gains. No one felt left behind. Fights were quicker, cleaner, and we used fewer resources like potions and mana.
It’s not some magic bullet, mind you. It depends on the spot, the group composition, and everyone knowing their role. But for us, taking the time to actually practice positioning and coordination, building this ‘exp share diamond’ tactic, really paid off. It became our go-to strategy for group leveling sessions. Just wanted to share the process, maybe it gives someone else ideas.
