My Hunt for the Jordans 11s This Past December
Alright, let me tell you about trying to get those Jordan 11s that dropped back in December 2023. The “Gratitude” ones, yeah? Basically the old DMP definition pack look. Man, I remember hearing the buzz about them coming back maybe mid-year.
First thing, I marked the date down. Saw it floating around online, confirmed it a couple times. December 9th, I think it was. You know how these things go, you gotta be ready.
Getting Prepared – The Usual Grind
So, week leading up, I did the usual stuff. Checked the main apps, you know, the SNKRS app first and foremost. Made sure my info was updated – payment, address, all that boring stuff. Lost out on too many drops before ’cause of a wrong zip code or expired card. Not this time, I told myself.
I also:
- Entered a few raffles on other sneaker shop sites. You gotta spread your bets, right?
- Set alarms. Like, multiple alarms. One for 15 minutes before, one for 5 minutes, one for the exact time.
- Charged my phone the night before. Sounds basic, but you don’t want your phone dying right at the critical moment.
The Morning of the Drop
Okay, December 9th arrived. Woke up way earlier than I needed to, probably around 6 AM my time, even though the drop wasn’t until later. Nerves, I guess. Made some coffee, sat staring at my phone.
Got the 15-minute notification. Opened the SNKRS app. There it was, the countdown ticking. Heart starts going a bit faster, you know?
Go Time and the Waiting Game
Drop time hit. Tapped that button immediately. Entered my size. Then… the dreaded waiting room. “You’re in line,” it says. Feels like forever. Just watching that little spinning circle thing.
I’m also checking my email on my laptop, seeing if any raffle results came through. Nothing yet.
Back to the app. Still waiting. You start thinking, “Did it crash? Is it frozen? Should I close it and reopen?” But you know that’s usually a bad idea. So, I just waited. Stared at the screen. Probably refreshed my email another dozen times.
The Result…
After what felt like an eternity, maybe 10-15 minutes, the screen changed. And believe it or not… GOT ‘EM. The confirmation screen popped up. Man, the relief. Actually shouted “Yes!” out loud, pretty sure I woke up my dog.
Checked my email, and yup, the official confirmation was there too. Checked my bank app, saw the charge pending. It actually happened.
Have to say, getting a win on SNKRS feels rare these days. Most times it’s just disappointment. But this time, for the Jordan 11 Gratitudes in December 2023, I actually managed to snag a pair directly. Felt good. They arrived a few days later, and yeah, they looked just as good in hand.
