Getting My Hands on the Valentine Dunk Lows
Alright, so let’s talk about these Valentine Dunk Lows. I remember seeing pictures pop up online, probably around late January or early February, you know how it goes. Sneaker sites, maybe Instagram, somewhere like that. Didn’t pay too much attention at first, just another Dunk release, right?
But then I saw some better shots, the close-ups. The colors, that mix of pinks and reds, kinda creamy white. It wasn’t just screaming ‘Valentine’s Day’ in a cheesy way. It actually looked like a pretty clean shoe. The little details, like the swoosh texture and maybe a little heart somewhere (honestly forget all the exact details now), caught my eye. I started thinking, yeah, I could actually wear those. Not just for the holiday, but like, regularly.
The Decision and The Hunt
So I decided, okay, I’m gonna try and get these. Retail price, if possible. We all know how that usually goes with Dunks nowadays. It’s mostly luck. I checked the usual apps, SNKRS mainly. Got myself ready for the drop time. Did the little entry thing, waited. And, well, you probably guessed it – got that big ‘L’. Didn’t win the draw. Not surprised, happens most of the time.
Didn’t really feel like chasing raffles at a bunch of different stores either. Too much hassle sometimes. I checked a couple of local skate shops online, see if they were getting them, but struck out there too. For a bit, I just figured, okay, wasn’t meant to be. Let it go.
Giving In (Sort Of)
But they kinda stuck in my head. Saw more people posting them after the release, looking good on foot. That itch started again. So, I did what many of us end up doing: I peeked at the resale market. GOAT, StockX, places like that. Prices were high, obviously. Higher than I wanted to pay, for sure. I watched them for a few days, maybe a week. Saw the price dip just a tiny bit on my size.
Finally, I just bit the bullet. Found a pair that wasn’t outrageously priced compared to the others, still more than retail, mind you, but I pulled the trigger. Placed the order, waited for the verification and shipping. Took about a week, maybe a little longer, for them to actually show up at my door.
First Look and Wearing Them
Opening the box, yeah, they looked good. Pretty much like the pictures. The colors popped nicely in person. Quality seemed decent, standard Nike stuff, nothing amazing but definitely not bad. No weird glue stains or bad stitching, which is always a plus.
- Put them on right away, just walked around the house. Felt like any other Dunk Low, comfortable enough for casual wear.
- The fit was true to size for me, same as my other Dunks.
- First time wearing them out, I just went simple. Jeans and a plain t-shirt. Let the shoes do the talking, you know? They definitely got noticed, got a couple of compliments.
Since then, I’ve worn them a fair bit. They work with shorts, jeans, even casual chinos. They add a nice bit of color without being too loud. They’re holding up okay, getting a few creases like any leather shoe does, but that’s just part of wearing your kicks.
Overall, yeah, happy I got them, even though I had to go the resale route. It was a bit of a process, starting with trying for retail, waiting, checking prices, and finally just deciding to buy them. They’re a solid pair, look good, feel fine. Just another pair added to the rotation.
