Okay, so you know I’m always messing around with stuff, right? Well, this time I got into making my own perfume. I saw this thing online about “Justin Bieber Perfume” and thought, “Why not?” Figured it’d be a fun project, and hey, maybe I could actually make something that smells good. Here’s how it all went down.

First things first, the research. I hit up Google and started digging. I wanted to figure out what kinda scents were even in those celebrity perfumes, and what made them… well, them. Found a few articles listing notes and stuff. Seemed like a lot of ’em had vanilla, some fruity stuff, and musk. So that gave me a starting point.
Next up, shopping time! I didn’t want to go crazy expensive at first, so I just grabbed some essential oils and fragrance oils from a local craft store. Got vanilla, some berry-ish scent (raspberry maybe?), and a bottle of musk. Also grabbed some perfumer’s alcohol – that’s the stuff you need to mix everything together properly. Oh, and don’t forget the empty perfume bottles! I got a few small ones, just in case I totally messed up.
The mixing started. This is where it got a little tricky. I didn’t have any fancy scales or anything, so I was just eyeballing it. I started with the alcohol in a small glass, and then added a few drops of each oil. Vanilla first, then the berry, then just a tiny bit of musk. I figured musk can be overpowering, so better to start small. I stirred it all up with a glass stirring rod (a chopstick would work too, tbh) and took a sniff.
First attempt? Kinda gross. It smelled… chemical-y. The berry scent was way too strong, and the vanilla was hiding in the background. I added a bit more alcohol to dilute it, and then a few more drops of vanilla. Stirred again, sniffed again. Better, but still not quite right.
Tweaking, tweaking, tweaking. This went on for a while. I kept adding drops of this and that, sniffing, and adjusting. It’s like cooking, but with smells! Eventually, I got something that was… okay. Not amazing, but okay. It had a sweet, slightly fruity smell with a hint of musk. Not exactly “Justin Bieber Perfume,” but not terrible either.

Letting it sit. I read online that you gotta let the perfume “mature” for a few days. So, I put the lid on the bottle and left it in a dark, cool place. Supposedly, the scents blend together better over time.
The final sniff. After a few days, I took it out and gave it another sniff. It was a little better! The scents had mellowed out a bit, and it smelled more like a real perfume. Still not exactly a masterpiece, but definitely wearable. I even wore it out one day, and nobody complained!
Would I do it again? Yeah, probably! It was a fun little project, and I learned a lot about how perfumes are made. Plus, now I have a custom scent that’s totally unique. Maybe next time I’ll get some more interesting oils and try to make something even more complex. Who knows, maybe I’ll be the next big perfume maker!
