Best lip brand matches: Top picks for every occasion.

Okay, so I gotta tell you about this little experiment I did with lipsticks. Call it “the lip brand matches,” yeah? I’m no beauty guru, but I do like a good challenge.

Best lip brand matches: Top picks for every occasion.

It all started when I was cleaning out my makeup drawer – a disaster zone, I know. I had, like, a million lipsticks, all different brands, all claiming to be the best. And I thought, “What if I could find the PERFECT match between two completely different brands? Like, a dupe, but discovered by yours truly?”

Here’s how it went down:

  • Phase One: The Swatch-fest. I grabbed all my lipsticks – seriously, ALL of them. We’re talking drugstore brands, high-end stuff, even some random ones I picked up on vacation. I started swatching them on my arm, labeling each one carefully with a marker. My arm looked like a rainbow gone wrong.
  • Phase Two: The Elimination Round. I took a good, hard look at the swatches. First, I eliminated anything that was obviously the wrong color family – bright pinks when I was looking for nudes, you know the drill. Then, I started comparing shades within similar color groups, looking for anything that was remotely close.
  • Phase Three: The Lip Test. This is where it got real. I narrowed it down to about six potential matches. I applied one lipstick to my top lip and another to my bottom lip. I walked around like that for a good hour, checking it in different lighting – indoor light, outdoor light, even that weird bathroom light that makes everyone look terrible.
  • Phase Four: The Verdict. After much deliberation (and some help from my brutally honest best friend), I finally found a winner! It was a super unexpected combo.

And the winners are…

It was actually kinda fun! And now I know that I don’t need to buy a million lipsticks from the same brand to get the perfect shade. Just gotta mix and match! Anyone else ever try something like this?
