So, the other day I was thinking about that movie, the remake of Gone in 60 Seconds. You know, the one with Nic Cage and Angelina Jolie. Great car flick. Anyway, that awesome Mustang he goes after at the end popped into my head. The grey one with the black stripes. Absolute beauty.
It got me wondering, didn’t that car have a specific name in the movie? I felt like it did. They gave all those cars code names, right? Female names. I couldn’t quite remember it off the top of my head though. My first thought was just, “What was the Gone in 60 Seconds Mustang called?”
So, I did what anyone does, I started digging around a bit. My first few searches were pretty basic, something like:
- gone in 60 seconds main car
- mustang from gone in 60 seconds
- nic cage car movie name
That brought up loads about the Shelby GT500, the year (usually listed as a ’67, though technically modified), pictures, stuff like that. But I wasn’t seeing the name they used in the film, the codename.
Finding the Codename
I remembered it was like, the unicorn car for Cage’s character, Memphis Raines. The one that always gave him trouble. That felt important. So I tried refining things a bit. I searched for “gone in 60 seconds car nicknames list” and “memphis raines unicorn car name”.
Took a couple tries, scrolling through some fan pages and movie trivia bits. And then, bam! There it was. Eleanor. That sounded right immediately. Yep, Eleanor was the codename for that specific 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500.
It’s kinda cool how that car, and its name, became so iconic just from that movie. It wasn’t just any car; it was Eleanor. Definitely one of the most memorable movie cars ever, I reckon. So yeah, that was my little quest. Found it. Eleanor.
