Okay, so you guys know I’m always trying new things with my look. This time, I went full-on Tina Turner. Yeah, the iconic hair – I needed that! Here’s the whole messy, fun process.

First things first: Finding the Right Wig
I spent ages online, scrolling through what felt like a million wigs. I wanted something that had that wild, textured look, you know? I ended up ordering one that claimed to be “big, blonde, and beautiful.” Sounded promising, right?
The Unboxing – Uh Oh…
It arrived, and I ripped open the box like it was Christmas. My initial thought? “Oh boy…” It was… a lot. The color was way more yellow than blonde, and the curls looked kinda plastic-y. But hey, I’m not one to give up easily.
Operation: Tame the Mane

- Washing Time: First thing I did was give it a good wash. I used some wig-specific shampoo and conditioner. This helped get rid of that factory shine and loosen the curls a bit.
- Cutting it Down: This thing was HUGE. So, I grabbed my scissors (yep, just regular ones) and started snipping. I watched a few YouTube tutorials on how to cut a wig without completely ruining it. I basically just trimmed the length and thinned out some of the bulk.
- Teasing and Texturizing: Tina’s hair is all about that volume. I backcombed the heck out of this wig. Then, I used some texturizing spray to give it that piece-y, messy look.
Color Correction – DIY Style
The yellow was still bugging me. I didn’t want to spend more money on professional wig dye, so I did some research. I ended up using a diluted purple shampoo (the kind for blonde hair) to tone down the brassiness. It actually worked pretty well! Just be careful not to leave it on for too long, or you’ll end up with a lavender wig.
Styling and Shaping
This was the fun part! I used a curling iron to define some of the curls and create that signature Tina Turner shape. Lots of hairspray was involved. I mean, A LOT. I basically wanted it to defy gravity.
The Final Reveal

I put on the wig, did my makeup (red lipstick is a MUST), and bam! Tina Turner vibes. Was it perfect? No way. But it was fun, and that’s all that matters.
Lessons Learned:
- Don’t be afraid to experiment.
- YouTube tutorials are your best friend.
- A little bit of effort can go a long way.
Would I do it again? Absolutely! Maybe next time I’ll invest in a slightly better wig to start with, but hey, that’s part of the adventure. Rock on!
