Okay, so I got thinking about Bill Murray the other day. Can’t remember why, maybe saw Groundhog Day on TV again or something. Anyway, it popped into my head – what’s he actually doing right now? Like, movie-wise. Is he even still making them?

So, I did what anyone does, I guess. I grabbed my phone while waiting for the kettle to boil and just typed in something like “bill murray current movie” or “what’s bill murray up to”. You know, the usual stuff.
And bam, a whole load of results came flooding in. It’s always a bit of a mess, isn’t it? You get news headlines, old interviews, lists of movies from years ago. Had to sift through it a bit.
Digging Through the Results
First thing I noticed was a lot of talk about that new Ghostbusters film. The one that came out, what, a few months back? Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, I think they called it. He popped up in that one, carrying on his old role. Seems like that’s the most recent thing he’s been in that people actually saw in theaters.
Then there was some other stuff mentioned:
- Some talk about a Wes Anderson movie he was in, Asteroid City. That felt like it was last year though, maybe not exactly current current.
- He did voice work too, right? Something about an Ant-Man movie? Again, felt a bit older.
- Lots of mentions of older classics, but that wasn’t what I was looking for this time.
It took a few minutes of scrolling and clicking around, just trying to piece together the timeline from the different bits of info. You try to find release dates, see what pops up most often as the ‘latest’.

Figuring Out the “Current” Flick
So, after poking around, it seems like the most accurate answer for a “current” Bill Murray movie, meaning one that’s relatively fresh out there, is probably that Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. He wasn’t the main star, obviously, but he was in it, and it’s recent.
Found some hints about things he might be filming or projects in development too, but you never know with those until they actually happen. For now, based on my little search, the Ghostbusters thing seems to be the main answer. It’s funny how you sometimes just get curious about someone and have to go digging a bit to find a straight answer.
