My Time with the Longines Conquest
Alright, so I wanted to talk about this watch, the Longines Conquest. It wasn’t some grand plan, you know? I just kind of ended up with it. I’d been looking around, not too seriously, just thinking I needed something solid, something that looked decent but wasn’t screaming for attention.

Saw this Conquest in a shop window one day. Looked clean. Simple. Not too flashy, not too plain. The price seemed alright for what it looked like – a proper watch, you know, felt heavy enough. So, I thought, why not? Went in, tried it on. Felt good on the wrist. Didn’t need a manual the size of a phone book to figure it out. Tells the time, got the date. Done. So I bought it.
Getting Used To It
Took it home, took it out of the box. Nothing fancy, just a watch. Started wearing it pretty much every day. To work, weekends, whatever. It felt… reliable. That’s the main thing I guess. It just did its job.
- It felt sturdy. Didn’t worry too much about knocking it.
- Kept time well enough. Didn’t have to reset it constantly.
- Looked okay with most things I wore.
It wasn’t exciting, maybe? But I wasn’t looking for exciting. I was looking for something that worked, day in, day out. And it did.
Real Life Wear and Tear
Now, here’s the thing. Life happens, right? I remember this one period, things were messy. Work was a nightmare, felt like I was drowning in paperwork and meetings that went nowhere. Had some family stuff going on too, stressful time. You get those patches where everything feels like it’s falling apart or just stuck.

Funny thing is, I’d look down at my wrist, maybe checking the time before another pointless meeting, and there it was. The Conquest. Just ticking away. Scratched up a bit by then, yeah, from banging it on desks or door frames without thinking. But still working. It sounds stupid, maybe, but it was like this one little constant thing when everything else felt shaky.
It wasn’t solving my problems, obviously. It’s a watch. But seeing it there, doing its simple job reliably, day after day through all that mess… it was kind of grounding. Like, okay, the world’s chaotic, but this little machine keeps going. It didn’t care about the deadlines or the family drama. It just ticked.
Still Ticking
So yeah, I’ve had it a while now. It’s definitely not pristine anymore. Got its share of marks. The strap’s worn in. But it still works fine. Still wear it a lot, though maybe not every single day now. Sometimes I grab something else.
But the Conquest? It’s like an old pair of boots. Comfortable, reliable, seen some stuff. It does the job. No fuss. That’s pretty much my whole experience with it. Just a solid thing that worked when I needed it to. Nothing more, nothing less.
