Okay, so I’ve been eyeing the KD3 “Aunt Pearl” for a while now. These things are legendary, and finding a pair in my size, especially in decent condition, felt like a quest. I finally decided to take the plunge and really dig in to find a pair.
First, I scoured the usual online marketplaces. You know, the big ones. I spent hours scrolling, filtering by size, condition, and price. I found a few listings, but most were either way overpriced, beat to hell, or just plain looked fake. It was discouraging, to say the least.
Then, I decided to get a bit more specific. I started hitting up dedicated sneaker forums and groups online. I figured these communities would have more serious collectors and sellers, people who actually knew what they had.

- I joined a few Facebook groups focused on KDs and older Nike basketball shoes.
- I even checked out some smaller, niche reseller sites.
This is where things started to get interesting. I got a few replies to my WTB posts, mostly from people with pairs that were either not my size or in rough shape. But then, I stumbled upon a guy in one of the Facebook groups who was looking to downsize his collection.
He had a pair of KD3 “Aunt Pearls” listed, size 10.5 – my size! The pictures looked good – not brand new, but definitely well-cared for. I messaged him immediately, and we started chatting.
We went back and forth for a bit, discussing the condition, price, and shipping. He seemed like a legit seller, very knowledgeable about the shoes and their history. He even sent me some extra detailed photos, which helped me confirm they were authentic. The box even looked well preserved.
Negotiation and Purchase
After a little bit of negotiation (because, let’s be real, who doesn’t try to haggle a bit?), we agreed on a price that I felt was fair. It wasn’t cheap, but it was definitely less than some of the crazy prices I’d seen elsewhere.
I paid him securely, and he shipped the shoes out the next day with tracking. I got tracking information so that made the delivery process smooth.
The wait was excruciating! I tracked that package like a hawk. Finally, they arrived. I carefully opened the box, and there they were – the KD3 “Aunt Pearls,” in all their pink, pearlescent glory. It was a bit of risk, but worked out in the end!
I inspected them closely, checking for any flaws that might have been missed in the photos. They were even better than I expected! I gently cleaned them, and I actually have not worn them yet, since then, but I plan to rock them soon.
So, that’s my story of finally acquiring the KD3 “Aunt Pearl.” It took some time, effort, and a bit of luck, but it was totally worth it. Now, I feel that my collection is a little more complete.
