Okay, so today I wanted to mess around with heirloom vendors in the game. I’ve heard about them, seen some posts, but never really dug in myself. Figured it was time to get my hands dirty.

Getting Started
First things first, I needed to figure out where these vendors even were. I did some quick searching online. Turns out, there are different ones depending on your faction.
I’m Alliance, So I went to Ironforge, and found the heirloom vendor, Estelle Gendry, hanging out there.
Checking Out the Goods
Once I found her, I started browsing her inventory. Man, there’s a lot of stuff! You’ve got your armor, weapons, trinkets… all sorts of things to boost your alts’ leveling experience.
I noticed right away that the prices were in gold. And some of this stuff isn’t cheap! I mean, it makes sense, they’re powerful items that scale with your level, but still… gotta make sure you’ve got enough gold saved up.
Making Some Purchases
I decided to pick up a couple of pieces for a new warrior alt I’m planning. Grabbed some chest armor and a weapon. Simple enough, just clicked on the items and paid the gold. Boom, they were in my bags.

Upgrading the Heirlooms
So, this is something I learned later – you can actually upgrade these heirlooms! I saw vendors sell items that will let you increase the level cap of the heirlooms.
For example:
- Ancient Heirloom Armor Casing
- Timeworn Heirloom Armor Casing
- Weathered Heirloom Armor Casing
That’s pretty cool, means you can keep using the same gear for longer as you level up. Just gotta cough up more gold for the upgrade items, of course.
Final Thoughts
Overall, dealing with heirloom vendors is pretty straightforward. Find them, browse their stuff, buy what you need, and upgrade if you want. It’s a great system for making alt leveling faster and more fun. Just be prepared to spend some gold, especially if you’re outfitting multiple characters or going for those upgrades! I’m definitely going to be using this more in the future.
