Okay, so I’ve been dealing with a super itchy, flaky scalp for, like, ever. It was driving me nuts! I tried all sorts of shampoos and treatments, but nothing seemed to really fix it. Then, I started thinking, maybe it’s something I’m eating…or not eating.

My Diet Experiment
So, I decided to really look at my diet. I’m not gonna lie, it wasn’t the best. Lots of processed food, not enough water, and definitely not enough of the good stuff like fruits and veggies.
First thing I did was increase my water intake. I used to barely drink any water throughout the day. I aimed for at least 8 glasses a day, and let me tell you, that was a struggle at first! I literally had to set reminders on my phone.
Next, I focused on adding more healthy fats to my meals. I’d heard that things like avocados, nuts, and fatty fish are good for your skin and hair. So, I started adding:
- Avocado to my morning toast.
- A handful of almonds as a snack.
- Salmon for dinner at least twice a week.
I also tried hard reduce sugar and processed carb. I did it not strictly. It’s tough, but I tried to limit it to weekends.

I also tried to eat more fruits and vegetables. I’m not a huge salad person, so I started sneaking them into smoothies or having them as snacks with hummus. Baby steps, right?
The Results (So Far!)
Honestly, it’s been a few weeks, and I’m already seeing a difference. My scalp isn’t as itchy, and the flakiness has definitely reduced. It’s not completely gone, but it’s way better than it was.
I’m not saying this is a miracle cure, and I’m definitely not a doctor or anything. But, for me, paying more attention to what I eat has made a noticeable difference. It’s all about experimenting and finding what works for you, I guess!
I’ll keep doing it, for sure I feel better and my scalp is way less itchy.
