Okay, so I’ve been hyped about the Kobe 8 Protro 2024 release for a while. I mean, the Kobe 8 is a classic, and the Protro treatment – updating a classic with modern tech – is always interesting. So, naturally, I started by scouring the internet for any and all information.
I checked out all the sneaker blogs, release date calendars, and even some shady forums. The goal was simple: get a pair on release day. No way was I paying resale prices.
The Hunt Begins
Once I had a solid release date, I started strategizing. Multiple websites? Check. Raffle entries? You bet. I even set multiple alarms on my phone so I wouldn’t miss a single drop.

- I entered every raffle I could. (Even the ones that seemed like a long shot.)
- I even asked a couple of friends to try and cop a pair for me, just in case.
Release Day Chaos
Release day arrived, and it was pure chaos. Websites crashed. Bots were everywhere. I was furiously refreshing pages, clicking like a madman, and generally feeling the stress.
After what felt like an eternity (but was probably only, like, 10 minutes), I finally got through on one site. I added my size to the cart, fumbled through the checkout process, and…success! Order confirmed. I actually did it.
Unboxing and First Impressions
The shoes arrived a few days later, and the unboxing was glorious. The box itself is pretty cool, and the shoes…man, they look even better in person. The details are on point, the materials feel premium, and they just scream “Kobe.”
I immediately laced them up and took them for a spin on the court. The first thing I noticed was the cushioning. It’s definitely upgraded from the original Kobe 8. More responsive, more comfortable. The grip is insane, too. I felt like I could cut on a dime.
Overall, I’m super happy with the Kobe 8 Protro 2024. It was a pain to get them, but totally worth it. They look great, they feel great, and they play great. A worthy update to a legendary shoe.
