Remember That D&G Ad? David Gandys Best Campaign Photos.

by Doreen Robbins

Okay, so I’ve been meaning to recreate that iconic Dolce & Gabbana ad, the one with David Gandy. You know, the one with the white briefs, the boat, and the ridiculously gorgeous Italian scenery? Yeah, that one. I finally decided to give it a shot, and let me tell you, it was…an experience.

The Prep Work

First things first, I needed the right gear. Obviously, the white briefs were essential. I’m no David Gandy, but I wanted to get as close as possible. I spent like an hour, just browsing, trying to find some that looked similar. Then the location. Finding a beautiful sea is tough.

  • The Briefs: This was surprisingly difficult. I wanted them to be just right.
  • The Location: I needed somewhere that felt, at least a little bit, like the Italian coast. I don’t live in Italy, sadly, but it is not too far.
  • The Boat: I don’t own a fancy yacht, but I can find somewhere.

The Shoot

So, the day of the “shoot” arrived. I got my friend to help me. We drove out to the location at my province, camera in hand, feeling a mix of excitement and “what am I doing?”.

Getting into those briefs in public? Yeah, not my most comfortable moment. I felt pretty exposed, not gonna lie. And let me tell you, posing like a supermodel is HARD. Trying to look effortlessly sexy while balancing on a boat and thinking about, you know, everything, is a serious workout. I have a newfound respect for David Gandy, seriously.

My friend did the best to keep a straight face while snapping pictures. I think we got a few that were almost usable. Lots of laughing, lots of awkward poses, and a whole lot of feeling silly.

The Results

Okay, so my photos are nothing like the actual Dolce & Gabbana ad. But, it was a fun, silly, and a bit embarrassing kind of experience.

It was a fun day, and I have a whole new appreciation for how much work goes into those seemingly effortless fashion shoots. Would I do it again? Maybe. If I can find a more secluded spot and maybe after a few more workouts.
