Alain Delon & Eau Sauvage Dior: The Iconic Fragrance Duo

by Griffith Maggie

Okay, so the other day I was digging through my grandpa’s old stuff, and I found this vintage bottle of cologne. It said “Eau Sauvage Dior” on it, and also “Alain Delon” – you know, that super handsome French actor from back in the day.

Sniffing Around

First things first, I gave it a sniff. Now, I’m no expert, but it definitely smelled classic. Not like the stuff you get today, all sweet and overpowering. This was more… sophisticated, I guess? A little bit citrusy, a little bit spicy, maybe some woody notes in there too. It made me think of a sharp-dressed dude in a black and white movie.

Deep Dive

Being the curious type, I went down the rabbit hole of researching it. Turns out, Eau Sauvage has been around since the 60s! And Alain Delon was basically the face of it for years. That explained why his name was on the bottle.

  • I checked out some old ads online – super cool and stylish.
  • I learned there are tons of different versions of Eau Sauvage, but the original is the most iconic.
  • I learned from some old forum that it’s not gonna smell like the newest from the store!

Trying it Out

I decided to actually wear it. I put on a little bit – didn’t want to go overboard, you know? I got to say that I felt pretty damn classy. The scent kind of evolved throughout the day, too. It started out fresh and then got a bit warmer and more subtle.

Final Thoughts

This whole thing was like a little trip back in time. It was cool to connect with something my grandpa used and to learn about the history behind it. I’m definitely gonna keep this bottle around – it’s a neat piece of history, and it smells pretty good, too! I now have this special perfume in my collection!
